After trying out a few of Chalene’s high intensity DVD programs in the Turbo Fire collection, you deserve a break! And that’s exactly what the Core 20 Class gives you. Now, don’t expect it to be easy – just expect it to be a lower intensity class than the others you’ve read about thus far. This one starts off with a very easy warm up, including swinging arms and squats. Then, it’s time for the main workout.
The exercise band is going to be your companion for the first part of the workout. You’ll use it for resistance as you stretch to the side and lean forward into crunches. The Core 20 Class is definitely low intensity but no walk in the park!
Reverse crunches and side twists are up next in the Core 20 Class, as you continue to focus on core exercises. The band around your feet will help to provide added resistance so you feel the burn when doing the crunches and twists. You can also repeat the movements without the band for a little added exercise.
Don’t forget the oblique muscles! The session will include a sequence where you’ll do oblique crunches, get into the push up position, swing your legs in and out, then finish off with some pushups. As you can see, the exercises in the Core 20 Class are slower but just as effective as the high intensity routines.
Your 40-minute stretch class is more or less a yoga class, involving traditional yoga poses like chataranga, downward dog and mountain pose. You’ll certainly get the stretch and meditation benefits you expect from a yoga class when you get into this part of the routine!
The Turbo Fire Core 20 Class may be low intensity, but definitely not low results!
