Day 16 is the first time we tackle the Tabata Strength workout. I was excited for a new workout but honestly sad to say goodbye to the Tabata Power workout from weeks 1 and 2. There is no secret to the name Tabata Strength. There is a lot more strength moves in this workout compared to the Tabata power. And mostly upper body moves so be ready for some additional floor work. Oh, and forget about taking breaks, there are none in this workout. Shaun T does allow us to have “active recover” Shaun T style so don’t think it’s just stretching.
Day 16 Tabata Strength
I had another hard day at work before I was able to push play for day 16. There was no way I was going to skip today’s workout but I’d be lying if I wasn’t arguing with myself about getting started. Being it’s a new workout I didn’t have an official Max Out time to compete with, which in hindsight was a good thing being as tired as I was going into the workout. The workout started fairly slow to me and I didn’t see me having too many problems with it. Well, that was until we started hammering the upper body. Shaun T starts has us doing a larger variety of upper body moves through out this routine. Including push ups, “v” push ups, and more. I made it to 11:00 mark before my shoulders gave out on me. I wasn’t not too happy with that number but it’s something I can improve on as we move on in Insanity Max 30. My calorie burn was low today for a couple of reasons. Once being I didn’t even finish the workout. I just completely ran out of steam around the 22:00 minute mark and rather than continuing on “half assed”, I decided to just stop and stretch.
Day 16
Tabata Strength Max Out Time: 11:03
Tabata Strength Calories Burned: 299
Day 16 Tabata Strength Nutrition
My nutrition was a little more difficult today with having a long day at work then to come home and take care of helping the kids with homework and studying. Once I had a moment to finally stop and collect myself, it was time to cook. I just didn’t have the energy to start cooking so I decided to go with some left over from the weekend. My meal timing was all over the place today but below is the general list of what I ate for the day. Maybe Insanity Max 30 is starting to wear on me but I’m determined to keep going. Stay Tuned!
Breakfast: 2 egg omelette with goat cheese, slice of whole grain toast with strawberry preserves & a Banana
Snack: Shakeology
Lunch: Tex Mex Spring rolls
Snack: Strawberries and Almonds
Dinner: Shredded BBQ Chicken and strawberries
Snack: Fruit Bowl (Strawberries, watermelon, pine-apple)
