Day 36
is the beginning of Month 2 in the Insanity Challenge. Month 2 brings on a whole new set of workouts which I was looking forward to. The new workouts are called “MAX” workouts and have a different warm-up, more circuits and add about 20 minutes to a routine compared to the Month 1 workouts. In addition to that they scheduled the Fit Test along with Max Interval Circuit
in the same day. The Fit Test is a workout in itself, even though it’s short it’s probably the one workout everyone pushes themselves the hardest to get the best numbers. I can’t imagine doing these back to back so I cheated a tad. I did the Fit Test on my Rest Day
(yesterday).
Day 36 Max Interval Circuit With Fit Test
So here we go, day 36 and the Max workouts starting with Max Interval Circuit. And right after an entire recovery week too. I have never personally made it beyond the first week of Month 2 in the Insanity Challenge in numerous attempts and this week marks the end of that trend. I haven’t done these Max workout very often either so they are almost like a brand new workout routines for me. Which is nice to keep me going full steam ahead and not get bored with a familiar workout. I enjoyed the new warm-up but at first it seemed to go on forever. The first thing I really noticed was after the warm-up and the stretch there was still 45 minutes on the clock. The entire Plyometric Cardio Circuit workout is only 42 and that includes the warm up and stretch. That was an eye opener to say the least. The next thing I noticed was we now go through 3 circuits instead of the only 2 like we did in month one. Again I like the introduction on new moves and the new variations of some of the older moves. Shaun T even has a few little surprise moves in there just for fun. Like the “ski abs, in and out abs, push up jacks, and oblique knees to elbows” move. Ya, that just happened! Another move I took away from day 36 that was more difficult than expected was the Floor Switch Kicks. As you probably know switch kicks is a basic move we do in the Fit Test and in some of the other workouts. Well now we do them from the floor and this played havoc on my hamstrings, I kept felling them tighten up so I had to back down the height of the kicks. When it was over it felt like I had just finished day one of Insanity and I burned about 200 more calories in this workout than normal. This is going to be a long 4 weeks, I can already tell, but it will be WORTH IT!

Day 36 Max Interval Circuit with Fit Test Nutrition
My nutrition for day 36 was on target. I am raising my calorie intake this Month to be above 2,000 per day. This will help with me have the energy for these longer, harder workouts. Plus my metabolism is running much more efficient now than it was in the beginning of the Insanity Challenge. I have been so set in my ways that adding the extra 100 calories has been a little harder than I expected. Sure, it’s easy to add 100 calories to your day, but it’s the right kind of calories to fit in my goals that makes it that much harder. Once I get through this week I’m sure I’ll have a better handle on it but for at least today it seemed harder to do. For breakfast I had the Insanity Proatmeal and I have been rotating this into my nutrition every other day for breakfast lately. I continue to drink my Shakeology everyday and honestly it’s the one meal I look the most forward to having. For my lunch I grilled some chicken and prepared the Protein Pizza Muffins from the Insanity Nutrition Plan. I had a ball game this evening so for dinner I made something quick and easy. I used the left over grilled chicken from lunch and added some steamed peas and a side of almonds. I was able to reach my calorie goal on day 36 and had 2004 calories. My macro-nutrients finished at 45-37-18. I was a little too high on my carbs than I wanted, but I’d rather be high on carbs than fat so I’ll take it and readjust for tomorrow. Stay Tuned.
