Day 39 was the first time I have ever done the Max Recovery workout in the Insanity Challenge. It’s similar to the Cardio Recovery of month 1 but just a lot more difficult and about 10 minutes longer. Shaun T takes us into some more deep muscle work with out all the crazy cardio. I’m still sore from the first three days of this week so we’ll see how I feel tomorrow after my Max Recovery.
Day 39 Max Recovery
Max Recovery in Day 39 took me back to some of the P90X days where Tony Horton has us doing slow-moving push ups. Max Recovery is broken up into 5 workouts. The first segment was mostly push ups. Slow, push ups for that matter. At first we do 4 and that wasn’t too bad, but then Shaun T asks for 8 and then 16…are you kidding me. I have a hard time with push ups and that segment about killed me. The other area I struggled with was I think in the third segment with the squat plie. I was doing fairly well for a while until about 5 minutes pasts and we’re still going. I think the whole segment is close to 8 minutes, no doubt I had to come out of those a few times. Even the cast members were shaking up a storm. In the end this was a nice recovery day for me. I have felt worn day over the last few days and I’m sure my body appreciated the break even if for only a day. I found this workout very hard and know it will take me some time to conquer the entire thing like I’m able to do with Cardio Recovery. I only have to tackle this routine 3 more times and I doubt in that amount of time I’ll be able to complete it. Maybe in the future though, time will tell. Back to the grind tomorrow.
Day 39 Max Recovery Nutrition
My nutrition for day 39 was as sound as it has been these last 39 days. I started the day off with some egg whites and whole grain toast. For lunch I grilled up some chicken and mixed in some steamed peas and corn with brown rice. This is right out if the Insanity Nutrition guide except for the fact that I added more chicken than the recipe called for to up the protein. Dinner was some of the left over grilled chicken from lunch with a bowl of steamed broccoli and a side of yummy almonds. I was under my calorie goal today but the workout didn’t burn hardly any calories so I didn’t stress over it at all. My weight has hit a plateau this week and after talking with some of my Insanity Challengers they are experiencing the same thing. This is probably due to the new workouts we are doing this week in addition to being sore all over. I expect everyone to see the scale start to move once again next week, but only time will tell. I finished day 39 with 1957 calories and met my ratios at 46-35-19.
