Day 5 Pure Cardio is finally here. This is one of my favorite workouts on Month 1. It has a ton of variety, meaning there are no repeat moves in the actual workout. Giving the name Pure Cardio you’ll soon realize how clever this name is. To back track a bit, I’m actually completing this workout on my sixth day. I injured my shoulder at my softball game the other day and couldn’t lift my shoulder so I took the day off to hopefully recover. I woke up today with more range of motion and decided to push play and modify the workout.
Day 5 Pure Cardio
Like I said I really enjoy this workout. With there being no repeat moves I feel like I push harder than if I knew I had to do the same move again. Maybe that’s just me. Being I had to modify this workout because of my shoulder I skipped the Level 2 drills, Suicide jumps and stance jacks. Cutting 3 minutes off of my workout. I just let the dvd run and ran in place while those moves were being done. I feel like I could have done them but I messed up my shoulder I would have regretted it, so it’s better to live another day. If you’re a fan of Shaun T I’m sure you know the term “This $hit is Banana’s”, and this is the workout that phase originated from. In the image below is where he is on the ground (circled in red) from Pure Cardio and says it. The other phrase I like is when he says…
“Sometime as a fitness professional I wonder why I do the things I do….Because I wanna look good…”
I feel that is relatable to just about every one who does Insanity.
Day 5 Pure Cardio Nutrition
My nutrition today is a little out of whack. I took a muscle relaxer last night and it knocked me out. So needless to say I didn’t wake up this morning until 10. I ate a small healthy breakfast and I waited about 2 hours before I started today’s workout which put it at 12. Starting my day at 10 made it harder to get the right amount of calories I needed for today and I ended up about 88 calories short of my goal. Not a big deal in the entire scheme of things. There are a few things that I make sure I have everyday. If you have been following me and checking out my nutrition screen shots you may already have noticed what they are. The one that has been a main stay for me is Shakeology. You’ll see if everyday in my nutrition, even on days I don’t workout. It’s important to me and my body. Today I wanted to try one of the Protein shake recipes in the Insanity Elite Nutrition guide. I picked the Vanilla – Berry Protein Shake (nutrition facts pictured below). Personally I like to use mostly if not all water with my shakes, this recipe called for 8 oz of skim milk. It tasted pretty good and had a good mix of carbs and protein in it. My day 5 nutrition ratio’s finished at: 46-36-18 which is perfect!
