Day 7 is here, well sorta. If you have been following my first week you know I’m off schedule a bit. So my rest day was a few days ago because of an injured shoulder. So since I didn’t post that day this will be a recap of my first week in the Insanity Challenge.
Week 1 In Review:
I have to say I’m really happy with how my workouts went this week. I came into this Challenge with the mindset of pushing through my comfort zone and raising the intensity everyday. I went through Day’s 1-4 without a hitch in that plan. On Thursday evening (Day 4) I injured my shoulder in a softball game. This has been a nagging injury for more than a year, I just re-injured it that night. It was bad enough to where I couldn’t even lift my arm above my waist without pain. I took Day 5 off hoping to give my shoulder time to recovery because there was no way I could do an insanity workout. Needless to say I was pretty bummed about the set back. And the fact that I thought I was done for a few weeks in the least. So my nutrition really took a tole on that day(more on that later). I took med’s and continued to ice it off and on all day hoping to have some mobility to maybe get back in the game. When I woke up Saturday I had a lot more movement with a little less pain so I decided I would push play and modify the workout to give it one more day of recovery. By Sunday I was ready to get back into the full swing of the Insanity Challenge and caught back up with the Insanity Schedule so Monday I could start on Day 8.
Week 1 Nutrition:
I met my nutrition goals 6 out of 7 days this week which probably sounds awesome but that one day killed me. I was a little pissed off about my shoulder and thinking I was going to be done for a while I had a lapse in judgement and for lack of a better word…”PIGGED OUT”. Waking up Saturday with my shoulder feeling better was great until I realized what I had done to my nutrition on Friday. I really feel bad for dropping my guard like that and just know it won’t happen again.
Week 1 Conclusion:
They say the first week is always the hardest, but for me I accepted this challenge with open arms and was ready for it. I started this week at a weight of 185.2 and finished with a weight of 185.2. Thanks to the Friday pig out I had. I admit I was disappointed that the weight remained the same, but I know why and I know I’m glad it didn’t go up. I have been at a calorie goal of 1800 per day and decided I will raise it this week to 1900 per day to see where that goes. It may have been to low. Everyone’s body reacts differently so I’ll give it a week and re-tweak it. I’m so ready for week 2 and beyond and I hope you are too.
