The Challenge has been met on day 73. I had a great workout today especially after the workout I had yesterday. I was glad to see The Challenge on the P90X3 schedle today. I have been craving a strength training workout after 2 consecutive cardio workouts. And I knew I could really go for it since tomorrow is Yoga.
Day 73 The Challenge
I took on The Challenge workout today and all I had to decide on was if I was going to increase my reps or not. In this workout we pick our goal numbers for each move (pull ups and push ups) The last time I did this one I set a goal of 12-20 and was able to do 22 push ups on a few different moves. So today I decided to go ahead and try to do the 22 push ups all the way through on top of adding an extra pull up, putting my numbers at 13-22.The cool thing was that I met those goals and it wasn’t easy. I’m really starting to notice how much quicker my heart rate recovers too. For example on this workout the last time I did it I burned 443 calories with an average heart rate of 443 compared to today where I burned 408 calories with the same average heart rate. Meaning I’m recovering much quicker so I burn fewer calories. How about them apples.
Day 73 The Challenge Nutrition
Once again I took a deeper look into my nutrition macros and made the decision to slightly alter them through the end of this P90X3 Challenge which is roughly only 2.5 weeks left. I was following the P90X3 nutrition guide macros of 30-40-30 but after more research I found (with some math) a better solution for me personally and my goals. The slight change went from 30-40-30 to 40-35-25 (proteins -carbs-fats). As you can see I have increased my protein intake and dropped my carb/fat intake. Again this is only a small change to see how things go. I felt like I needed to drop the fat percentage anyways and 25% is good without going too low even though most might say go to 20%. I’ll follow this plan through the end of this round and then re-evaluate. I finished today with 1982 calories and my macros at 39-36-25. Stay tuned.
