Fit Test Review | Insanity Workouts Review

I will be reviewing each Insanity workout and I decided to start with the “Fit Test”, my intensions with each review will be to give you a broad spectrum of what each workout entales.

Fit Test

Insanity Fit TestInsanity comes with a “Fit Test” and unlike P90X the Fit Test is actually part of your workout program. The reason for the fit test is to see where you are as far as your fitness level for Insanity. Now, anybody can do the Insanity workout with enough heart, determination and most of all commitment. You will need to be in decent shape to do the Insanity workout, so if the Fit Test overwhelms you, you may want to back off and do another program and come back to Insanity. Remember Insanity is am extreme workout and it takes time to get at that level. For me personally I have completed P90X and Insanity is still a hard workout for me and I have to pace myself. Starting Insanity my weight was 190-195 and I’m 5’11″.

The Fit Test is also to keep track of your progress with Insanity. You will come back to the Fit Test every 2 weeks.

Fit Test Workout Length

25:00 Minutes

Fit Test Structure

You will begin with a warm up which compared to all the other workouts this is the easiest warm-up. Probably comparable to a P90X warmup. The Fit Test Warm-up is under 2:00 minutes and you will go through a few quick moves to get warmed up.
Jog
Jumping Jacks
Heisman
123 Heisman
Butt Kicks
High Knees
Mummy Kicks

This will be you be your first of what Insanity has to offer and your own fitness level. After your quick warm up Shaun takes you through a quick stretch before getting to business.

The cast for the fit test only contains 3 people, Shaun T (duh) Tonya and Chris. Tonya and Chris have both completed the 60 days of Insanity.

The Workout

During the workout you will do each move for 1 minute each keeping track of your reps for each move. After each move Shaun will ask Tonya and Chris there starting numbers compared to there 60 day numbers so you can see their improvements. Below I will list there numbers to give you an idea.

1.)Switch Kicks Day 1
Simple, do as many as you can in one minute. Each kick is a rep.
Tonya – 74
Chris – 80
Me – 87

2.)Power Jacks
Same concept, as many as you can in one minute.
Tonya – 51
Chris – N/a
Me – 37

3.)Power Knees
Tonya – 98
Chris – 62
Me – 71

4.)Power Jumps
Tonya – 41
Chris – 36
Me – 20

5.)Globe Jumps
Tonya – 9
Chris – 7
Me – 7

6.)Suicide Jumps
Tonya – 18
Chris – 17
Me – 13

7.)Push Up Jacks
Tonya – 23
Chris – 21
Me – 15

8.)Low Plank Oblique
Tonya – 40
Chris – 35
Me – 30

Just to repeat, you will have one minute for each move and a little more than a minute break between each move, but you can pause the dvd if needed. After you go through each move we go to a 4 minute cool down and stretch. That’s it! Pretty cut and dry here, this fit test is just another part of the Insanity, although only 25 minutes, it will feel like a actual workout and a good calories burn.

Max Heart Rate – 177
Average Heart Rate – 128
Calories Burned – 569

You can see that all my results on day one were below the cast members but nonetheless I pushed myself and was happy with my numbers.
