Insanity: The Asylum Athletic Performance Assessment | Fit Test | Getting Ready

Asylum Athletic Performance Assessment

Athletice Performance Assessment

Coming off of a 90 day round of P90X/Insanity I was going to take a week and do some light cardio. However feeling good I decided I did not want to lose any momentum. I wanted to start Asylum this week and what better day than on a Monday to start Insanity Asylum. I have watched this workout prior to doing it so I knew what to expect. Just like Insanity, Asylum has a “Fit Test”, but it’s called the Athletic Performance Assessment in the Asylum. This program is a sports training program so I guess that’s the reason for the name versus just calling it the Fit test.

I actually won this program as one of the Beachbody Coach success club prizes. My copy is signed by Shaun T himself. I have had it a few months but now it’s time to put this program into action.

If you’re familiar with Insanity and have done the fit test this one is basically the same concept. We do quick warm up, which was surprising knowing Shaun T normally has a longer warm up with his Insanity routines. After the warm up we do a quick stretch. Now into the “Assessment” period. We will be doing 9 different moves for 1 minute each. I did much better than I though I would, but saying that I want better numbers next time. I have a hard time with these fit test’s becasue I find myself pushing almost to hard where I end up crashing before I even get to the end. Even though I knew this going in I tried to push on through, and again Shaun T is a great motivator and seems to come in with words of encouragement at just about the perfect time. I did press pause one time, I ended up getting a cramp in my left side and it made it hard to breathe. I paused for about one minute on the 7th move so my numbers may be padded a bit because of the break. But hey, I did it and that’s what counts in my book.

Here are my stats:

Results:
Agility Heisman – 7.5
In & Out Progression – 31
Push-ups – 20
Mountain Climber Switch Kicks – 53
Agility Shoulder Taps – 4
X Jumps – 20
Moving Push Ups – 3
Agility Ladder Shuffle – 11
Agility Bear Crawl – 7
