Insanity: The Asylum Day 2 Strength

Insanity Asylum StrenghtBegin day 2! Today’s workout was the strength workout in the Asylum routine and it’s appropriatly named “Strength”. One of the things I was concerned with in going into Asylum was the fact of not having any strength training like in P90X. I knew Asylum had a “strength” workout but wasn’t really sure what was involved…until today. This fits in well with the Insanity type of workouts because it is insane. We pretty much do stength training the entire routine, we even do the warm up with a dumbbell in our hands. I really like the different levels used by Shaun T, it makes the routine not feel so much like a repeat routine. Doing different level (3) which added a new move each set made it kind of fun (sorta). I wasn’t sure what weight to use and was afraid of going to heavy so I went with a 15 pound dumbbell through most of the routine. There are a lot of bent over moves and with my bad back I really don’t like to use much weight while bent over. Nonetheless the 15 pounds still gave me a bit of a burn. I may up it next time now that I know the routine better. Stay tuned…
