Insanity: The Asylum Week 2 Update

Week 2 of the Asylum

Begin week 2 of my Insanity Asylum journey. This week is going to be a repeat of last week. With the exception of the Relief workout which I have yet to try. I’m hopeful that Speed and agility and Vertical Plyo come to me a bit easier but not sure if I will be that lucky. Asylum has proved to be a tough workout, but I knew that going in. It will be hard to keep up with the day to day grind of this workout. Being that this is only a 30 day program I think I can make it.

Day 6 – Speed and Agility – This was my second attempt at Speed and Agility. I was able to push a bit harder today knowing what was to come. I did do better this time through but not as good as I would have liked. I hit the ladder way more than I was suppose to. If Shuan T was in my living room he would be making do push-ups all day for the amount of times I hit the ladder.
Speed & Agility Stats:
Duration: 47:22
Avg BPM: 147
Peak BPM: 213
Calories Burned: 792

Day 7 – Strength – Although this was only the second time doing this routine, I think I’m falling in love with it. The cardio weight training is kinda fun. You get a good all body workout with cardio. I upped my weight to 17.5 today from 15 lbs from last week. I was actually feeling the burn today but I could probably go to 20 lbs. We’ll see if I try that next week.
Strength Stats:
Duration: 49:49
Avg. BPM: 130
Peak BPM: 173
Calories Burned: 663

Day 8 – Back to Core – The first time I did this workout I was a but scared having the back issues I have. Now that I’ve done it a few time this could be the workout that might “fix” my back. Strengthening my back is something I realyly need and Shaun T get’s it done in this one. Oh and not to mention my “hammys” are killing me.
Back to Core Stats:
Duration: 39:56
Avg. BPM: 128
Peak BPM: 213
Calories Burned: 515

Day 9 – Vertical Plyo – I have to be honest and say I was really not looking forward to this workout. All the jumping gets my heart rate up so fast I’m worn out before you know it. Mentally not prepared for this today. I did it but just wasn’t “In in to win it” today. I hope it gets easier but I doubt it.
Vertical Stats: 39:55
Avg. BPM: 136
Peak BPM: 215
Calories Burned: 579

Day 10 – Relief – This was my first time with this workout. It’s short and sweet at about 25 minutes. Basically just 25 minutes of stretching which was really needed today after all the jumping yesterday in Vertical Plyo. Looking forward to the weekend.
Relief Stats:
Duration: 24:23
Avg. BPM: 90
Peak BPM: 116
Calories Burned: 122

Week in Review:
Another good week for me. I’m now over 100 days into my workouts. I’m feeling better and better all the time. I’m not focused on losing anymore weight, I just want to cut down some more body fat percentage. Vertical Plyo has proved to be my biggest challenge. All the jumping kicks my arse and I don’t like that feeling. Speed and Agility is fun and hard at the same time but not so much jump training. Next week will be my first bout with “Game Day” which is a 60 minute cardio crusher. I have watched bits and pieces of it and I have to say I am scared of it. Monday I will be doing my second Assessment Test and will post my comparison to the first time. Hopefully I can raise some numbers. Stay Tuned!
