P90X vs Insanity

P90X vs Insanity
Insanity vs P90X

Insanity is the first workout to come out to rival the popular P90X.

I have completed P90X and have had pretty good results. I started with a weight of 220 pounds and after two rounds I got down to 180 pounds. Then there came Insanity. I decided to purchase Insanity and give it my all. Knowing that this would be one of the hardest workouts I have ever done. You can see how I’m doing here. But the question remains…

Which program is better, P90X or Insanity?

P90X vs Insanity Overview

I personally don’t think that’s the right question. I think you will need to determine what kind of workout your looking for as these two are different. Neither of these workout are for everyone, both are pretty intense workouts and are actually designed for those individuals whom are in moderate shape to begin with. With that being said, a beginner can do either of these at their own pace, but please do what’s right for you. So lets compare P90X vs Insanity.

P90X – P90X vs Insanity

P90X LogoP90X is a complete workout routine that includes resistance training, cardio and yoga. Most of the workouts are one hour in length with exception to two, Cardio X (45 minutes) and Yoga X (90 minutes). To be able to start your P90X routine you will need a few things. You will need a pull up bar (or a place to do them) and a set of dumbbells or resistance bands. P90X uses muscle confusion to get you absolutly ripped in just 90 days. P90X comes as three different versions and you can pick the one that best suites your needs. The three versions are Classic, Lean and Doubles. Classic is the most popular version and in it you will workout 6 days a week with an optional stretch day for the seventh. In one week you will have 3 resistance days 2 cardio days and one yoga day, each resistance day has a ab routine added to it. The Lean version would be for someone wanting to put more emphasis on losing opposed to gaining weight. It’s program consist of 2 days of resistance and abs, three days of cardio and one day of yoga. Last but not least is Doubles. Doubles is the classic version on steriods. You will add a 45 minutes cardio workout on every resistance day, three in all.

Tony Horton is great and will be like youir own personal trainer for the entire 90 days and beyond. He will show you how to do each exercise safely and precise. He will also show how to do each exercise in a beginner ametuer and advanced form. I like Tony in P90X he does not gt annoying and he has plenty of helpful hints to help you get what you want out of each workout.

P90X also comes with revolutionary 3 phase diet plan. It was designed to help you lose fat while maintaining a high level of energy. You can have good results without following the diet plan to a “T”, but of course you are sacrificing your results a little bit. My suggestion is to follow the guide as closly as possible.

All in all P90X is set up really well. The calendar and fitness guide show you what you need to do each day and how to do it right. All you need to do is follow the simple guidelines and get in the best shape of your life!

    Why P90X Is So Effective:
The secret behind the P90X system is an advanced training technique called “Muscle Confusion,” which accelerates the results process by constantly introducing new moves and routines so your body never plateaus, and you never get bored! Whether you want to get lean, bulk up, or just plain get ripped, there’s an endless variety of ways to mix and match the routines to keep you motivated the full 90 days and beyond!

    Insanity – P90X vs Insanity

Insanity LogoInsanity was release July 9th 2009. And I had been waiting for it’s arrival since early June, but to my dismay the release was pushed back. Insanity is also a great workout routine and is completely different from P90X. Insanity is basically an all cardio workout. Meaning not extra equipment is nessecary. Shaun T, the creator of Hip Hop Abs is the mastermind behind Insanity. In the Insanity routine you will workout 6 days per week. Five of the days are killer cardio days and the other is a much needed recovery day. Don’t let the name fool you, even though you will not be jumping around your living room you are still going to sweat. I don’t think I have ever sweat as much as I do during my Insanity workouts. Shaun has tapped into the sweat fountain for sure. Shaun T introduces whats called Max Interval Training in Insanity where you will push yourself 100% for three minutes and rest for only 30 seconds before pushing again. The month one workouts range from 38 – 45 minutes in length and trust me, you will be glad that they are that short. Insanity also has a fit test workout, but unlike P90X’s fit test, Insanity’s fit test is part of the program and you will do this 25 minutes test approximatly every two weeks to track your progress.

I was a bit skeptical about this program simply because I have not worked out with a Shaun T video before and I was use to Tony Horton. I was affraid I would not like Shaun T and he would be annoying. Well I was way off! I am actually glad Shuan t did this workout, I could’nt imagine it any other way. Even though he’s on the dvd it really does seem as if he’s right there with you pushing and motivating you the whole time. And let me tell you something else, Shaun T is Insane!!! These workout are not for the modest person looking to get results without effort, if thats you, back away quickly cause this workout is not for you.

Insanity’s diet guide is forward and simple, but lets be honest, Insanity is not about the whole diet thing. It’s about the hardest workout ever put on dvd. That’s not a marketing scheme either. Month one has been the hardest month of my fitness life and just the other day I preveiwed some of the month two videos and OMG. Month two workout will incorporate even harder moves along with an extra 20 minutes each day, and I thought what I was doing was insane. Someone please help me LOL.

    The Method Behind The Madness:
The secret to these mind-blowing results: MAX Interval Training. Shaun T took traditional interval training and flipped it on its head—you perform long bursts of maximum-intensity exercises with short periods of rest. Each workout keeps you constantly challenged as you alternate between aerobic and anaerobic intervals performed at your MAX. The result: burn up to 1,000 calories in an hour and get the most insane body in 60 days.
