P90X Results FrameworkIt’s funny to think back on the last 3 months to what I’ve been through. Where I started to where I ended. I’m extremely happy with my results. If you were to ask me could they be better I would have to answer yes. I know where I went wrong in some regards, but I still did what I set out to do. Perhaps if I had done it differently I may have not stuck it out as long. I generally do not use the scale to measure accomplishments but I did this time through as I was looking to lean out and lose weight. I guess the mirror was my other method of checking results. I could physically see progress. I did not get a six pack or probably even get close but this was not a goal of mine. It was more of if it happens it happens. Being that I had reached +200 pounds I wanted to get it down. I tried multiple times to lose weight, including this year, but I just for one reason or another could not stick with it. A few times I got sick, another I actually got staph infection which wiped me out completely and the other times were for the Beachbody Coach cruise and the Atlantis trip I won (no complaints there). And ironically it would always seem to happen around my 30 day mark.

So I set out again to attempt to go after a 90 day round. I started May 16th 2011 and went for it. I have read a lot of places that most trainers do not recommend going “cold turkey” with a diet and workout routine. I have even heard Shuan T himself say (paraphrased) “I would rather you eat one health meal per day, eating crap the rest of the day, than to try to eat every meal perfectly”. Knowing this would be hard and advised against I did it anyways. Not really knowing how I would do, I just took it one day at a time. I followed some simple guidelines set by other people who had great results with P90X and altered them to work for me.

After completing this process I can’t begin to tell you how well I feel right now. I feel pumped and energized all the time. And the feeling of accomplishment having finished all 90 days without missing a scheduled workout or a cheat meal. I have to say it’s become such a habit now I don’t really crave the things that got to where I started. I can honestly do with out them. I have been contemplating trying Asylum and I can tell you that I am no longer contemplating…I’m going for it! I was also going to take a week off for light cardio as sort of a break between the two programs. Well, I no longer feel that way, I’m pumped and don’t want to stop pushing play, it’s like a drug! The lyrics of Eminem’s song “Not Afraid” come to mind when I feel this way…

“… Cause the way I feel, I’m strong enough to go to the club or the corner pub, and lift the whole liquor counter up Cause I’m raising the bar I’d shoot for the moon but I’m too busy gazin at stars I feel amazing and I’m NOT AFRAID!…”

Everyone is different and your bodies react differently to diet and exercise. So I did what I could do. In the words of Tony Horton,

“Do your best and forget the rest”

Did I Use Any Supplements For My 90 Day Results?

So what supplements did a use? I only used a couple different things. One I used everyday is of course Shakeology. Shakeology has been the biggest contributor to my overall results and weightloss. Shakeology has helped me increase my energy output to get through the everyday grind of these style of workouts. And not to go into detail but it also has helped me to become “regular” which has always been a problem of mine. Not to mention my fingernails are stronger, and my hair and skin looks healthier too. I drink Shakeology everyday for breakfast which is about 30-60 minutes before my workout. Shakeology also has about 17 grams of protein so it can make a decent pre-workout shake. Being I drink Shakeology with only water and ice it’s only 150 calories so it’s not a meal replacement shake for me. It’s simply added to my breakfast. Of course you can add ingredients to Shakeology to up it’s caloric measure.

Another supplement I took everyday was Whey Protein. It’s always a good idea to take a good quality protein and believe the quality does matter. What I use is Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 that I purchase from GNC. It’s a really good quality protein and tastes good to. During this round I was taking 3 scoops per day and at 20 grams per scoop I was getting 60 grams per day of course this does not count protein from Shakeology, R&R drink or protein from food.

I also took the Results & Recovery Formula. I didn’t start using the R&R until after the first phase. Mainly because I really was n’t pushing to hard in my first phase, I was concentrating on good form and completing the workouts instead of going hard. So I didn’t feel the R&R was really necessary. However I have used it everyday since starting Phase 2. It’s helped me keep from getting to sore in the daily grind, and it helps the muscles recover from intense sessions.

Lastly I tried Jack3d, but never really stuck with it. I started to try it in Phase 2 but I ended up feeling weird after taking it. I could definitely feel it in my system when I did take it. I just felt I was pushing hard enough without it. I still have it and plan to try it again once I start another round of P90X after my deal with Asylum.

What’s Next after these 90 Day Results?

As I mentioned earlier I’m going for Beachbody’s newest program Asylum. I’m really not sure I’m ready. And part of me wants to continue with P90X to try to add a little bit of size (mass). I still have a bit of body fat I’d like to shed and that’s why I’m thinking a 30 day program like Asylum would be a good match for me at this time. Then after Asylum I can go back to P90X with more of a building mass schedule.

Do I have any 90 Day Results Regrets

This is not something I really thought I would need to write about but I do actually have some regrets. My biggest regret is in regards to my first phase (month 1). I used this phase as an Adaptive phase which is what it is designed to be. Looking back I probably could have pushed a bit harder. By the time I got to the end Phase 3 I was still upping my weight on different moves. I think if I had pushed harder during the first month I wold have met my max weight and reps during the end of Phase 2. Would it have made a difference in my final results?  Maybe, but the good thing is there is always tomorrow.

Call To Action to Achieve Your Own 90 Day Results

Are you going through your program and running into that perverbial wall? I hit them along the way, and sometimes I didn’t see any results for a week or two I just kept reminding myself to keep pushing play. You have to keep going, you know if you’re pushing hard enough or eating right. Don’t question your results if you’re not doing what you need to do. Suck it up and push play everyday you can. If I can do this anyone can, and believe me I’m not done. If you have already started, keep pushing play and dedicate yourself on both the workouts and the diet. If you are thinking of starting, stop thinking about it and get P90X, Insanity or whatever program you want to start and get started today! Next get on Shakeology and drink it everyday, it can and will help you get through the workouts themselves and increase your overall results. I’d love to help you or your journey, as I continue mine we can get to our goals together. All you need to do is create a Free Team Beachbody account here.
