Strawberry Smoothie Protein Shake

Protein is very important when doing any kind of training. When you workout harder and need more protein to repair and rebuild muscle tissues even the recovery time and results of the workouts. With my P90X workout combined with Insanity workout I need to make sure to get enough protein. Without an adequate amount of protein our muscles would’nt heal up as quickly and could therefore lead to overtraining your muscle which could lead to injury, which I do not want.

The best time to take in protein is after you workout so the protein can be delivered to your muscle and begin repairing them. Figuring out how much protein you need is another simple process, getting enough protein is a little harder. You basically need 1 gram of protein per pound of weight. If you weigh 180 pounds you’ll need 180 grams of protein.

Whey ProteinSo back to my Strawberry Protein shake. I am a Beachbody Coach so I recieve 25% off the entire Beachbody catalog. Even though I am a Coach I am not required to use their products, so I suggest you find the product that works best for you. For the whey protein I visit my local GNC store and purchase “Pro Perfomance AMP” vanilla flavor. With a serving size of 3 scoops it will give me 60 grams of protein in one serving. I only use two scoops and puts the protein intake at 40 grams.

Beachbody Activit MultivitaminsTaking a high-quality multivitamin every day is simply the best way to ensure your body gets the nutrients it needs. So I use the Beachbody Activit multivitamin and add them to my shake. These are purchased from Beachbody and cost about $25 for a months supply (60 pills). As a Beachbody Coach I only pay $18.

Frozen Strawberry BagOf course for a Strawberry smoothie you are going to need…strawberrys. I purchase a bag of frozen strawberrys from my local walmart I beleive they cost around $7 for a large bag. The only other ingredient I use is 1% milk.

I am pretty lean so I add milk to give the shake a little more calories. You can substitute the milk with skim or even water if you prefer.

Strawberry Smoothie Protein Shake Recipe:

1 Cup of 1% Milk
2 Scoops Vanilla Protein
1 Cup of Frozen Strawberrys
2 Actvit Multivitamin Pills
1 Cup of ice
Blend until smooth.

Protein – 48 grams
Carbs – 30.5 grams
Sugar – 19.3 grams
Calories – 347
