Enter Insanity Max 30 and the start of a new year and with a new year 2 things in my life have come to be true. A new Beachbody workout is released and t I let myself go during the Holidays and have a lot of work to do to get back into shape. I hate that I have done this multiple years in a row now, but I know I’m not alone in that category.
Today I begin Insanity Max 30 with some challengers, and we are determined to get the Max out of this program.
Since I completed the Insanity Challenge and the P90X3 Challenge I had one of my most successful years in fitness in 2014, but things changed near the end of the year, I started a new business on top of my Beachbody business and it’s more physical and time-consuming than I’m use to. Suddenly workouts and eating right took a back seat. My hours in the day were much more busy so naturally I made excuses to not workout out. I tried multiple times to get back in the saddle and do a workout program but nothing stuck with me. Now we have the all new Insanity Max 30 program and I can tell you I was looking forward to something new this year and I’m totally excited it’s a Shaun T program. Today is Day 1 of the Insanity Max 30 Challenge and it just so happens that one of my friends posted the image below…man I wish I read that sooner lol.
Day 1 Cardio Challenge
Day 1 of the Insanity Max 30 challenge is officially in the books. I’ve been sick over the last few days and probably should have skipped todays workout but I was determined to get this thing started. If you are an Insanity fan you will love this workout. And the 30 minutes makes it all that much better. I previewed this workout before actually jumping into it (recommended) so I would have some type of idea how the workout was structured. I did pretty well considering how I felt and I pushed pretty hard even though I was mostly following the modifier. I just focused on speed and form instead of all the jumping around the rest of the cast was doing. I still was soaked by the end of the workout, I just wish my heart rate monitor was functioning so I could see how many calories I burned today. I’m hopeful to have my HRM working soon! I “maxed out” today at 9:55, I was trying to get to the 10:00 minute mark which was a break but I stopped just before the cast. So I guess my goal for next week will be to at least get to the 10:00 mark if not beyond it.
Day 1 Cardio Challenge Max Out Time: 9:55
Cardio Challenge is the “fit test” of Insanity Max 30 and is broken down into 6 5-minute blocks each with a 30 second break. There is no time for stretching before hand but we do warm up style moves at the start of the workout. We are supposed to go as hard as we can until we “max” out (or take a break) , when this happens we write down the time. I really like this concept and I think it will help me push harder each time I do a workout. It will also help me to avoid “dogging it” in my workout which I’m guilty of to be honest.
Just to give you an idea of what to expect in the Cardio Challenge workout I included the move list below. Each block is 5 minutes in length and we repeat them multiple rounds alternating legs and arms depending on the move.
Cardio Challenge Move List:
(Warm – Up)
Chest Open Jack
High Knee Jab
Squat Knee Kick
Pike Up Spider
10 & 2
Med Ball Twist
Plank Jack In & Out Abs
4 Jab 4 High Knee
Plyo Power Knee
Scissor Stance Jacks
Shoulder Tap – In & Out
Slap Back Jack
Plank Speed Tap
2 Jab – 2 Tuck
Day 1 Cardio Challenge Nutrition Recap
I’m not going to be anal with my nutrition in terms of only eating healthy, but rather eating healthiER than I had been and cutting calories where I have been eating excessively over the holidays. I won’t be following the Insanity Max 30 nutrition plan to a “T” but will incorporate some of the recipes they provided in the guide-book. I will be cutting our “eating out” to at most 2 times per week. Eating out has been my downfall lately and the more I cut out the better. When you cut out eating out that means you have to cook more. I haven’t been cooking regularly for some time so that will take some time as well. me and my wife have been digging around trying to find new recipes so we have a lot of variety in our nutrition. I will try to have a break of my nutrition each day to keep me accountable.
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 1 slice of toast with strawberry preserves
Lunch: Baked Tex-Mex Egg rolls (Recipe)
Snack: Strawberries, pine-apple and watermelon bowl
Dinner: Grilled Pork Chops, green beans, red potatoes
Snack: Greek yogurt and some almonds
