I have been a member of Team Beachbody since 2007 and I became a Beachbody Coach January 2009, what an amazing ride it’s been and my business is growing every week. It’s hard to believe that this January will be 2 years in this business. I have learned so much in that time I can’t barely remember where I started. Maybe this post will help you decide if this is the right business for you.
Recently I posted that there are 30,000 Beachbody Coaches and we are growing fast. In fact, we have just passed 40,000 that’s amazing! With the start-up fee now being waived for a limited time this is the best time to get started.
I’m contacted everyday from people interested in the Coach opportunity and even other Beachbody Coaches looking for tips on getting their business up and running.
I wanted to make this post for those looking into becoming a coach or maybe even those new (or seasoned) coaches out there looking for ways to be successful.
First, I always suggest creating your own blog, I am not talking about the free ones, they limit you so much it can almost be a waste of time. Get yourself a domain, hosting and set up a blog and start writing. And write often about your struggles and triumphs of your business and/or use of the products. Millions of people search “P90X” so blogging about your daily tasks with P90X could be a good start. Of course any of the Beachbody products will work the same.
Beachbody does give you 2 websites when you sign up, the problem with these is that EVERY single other coach has the exact same website. Be your own and stand out from the other coaches.
Another thing you will need to consider is who is going to be your up line coach. There are literally thousands of Beachbody Coaches online to choose from. A tip for choosing a upline is to find one that works the business in a way you want to work the business or more over a up line you can work with closely. Figure out their “why” and make sure they are upfront and honest with you. Also this person needs to be committed to the business and to helping their down line.
You don’t have to advance in rank to earn money. Your goal should be to add coaches to your business but it’s not mandatory to earn money. I have coaches on my team who simply earn commissions on the products they sell and that’s all they care about. Others look only to add coaches. Obviously the best way to build is by doing both, this will earn you even higher checks. Also, making money should not be your main goal, remember this is a health and fitness business. Some of the most successful coaches are the product of the product, meaning they have had success with a product like P90X for example.
Your success will depend on YOU! No one can do it for you, so don’t expect someone to build your business for you. Now I know there some coaches that market that they will add coaches to you. The only problem I see with this is in the placement. If your placed in the wrong leg it could potentially hurt your business. So just be sure and know where you are going to be placed before signing up under one of these “special link” scenarios. Also signing up under one of the top coaches DOES NOT mean you will be successful. Even if they continually add to your down line, until you rank advance yourself you will not be able to earn bonuses, so it comes down to working with a coach that is available to help you when you need it.
I *HIGHLY* recommend joining under a coach that is actively adding coaches to his/her down line using the outside placement strategy. While some work is definitely required on your part, joining under this type of coach is going to help you accumulate the most team volume points. Before you sign-up under a coach you definitely need to ask them where you’re going to be placed in their down line, this is going back to the “special link” concepts. It’s YOUR business–you need to know! If they aren’t implementing the outside strategy or they refuse to share where you’ll be placed in their down line that might be something to think about.
Patience is a virtue. I know that sounds cliché but it’s true. Consistency and perseverance is necessary to be successful. It took me 5 months to reach the rank of Emerald, and once I had a grasp on what works my business has grown since then. I would have made a huge mistake had I quit after only a few months. I was determined to make this business work and had that “never say die” attitude, and I believe it’s one of the reasons I have been successful in this business.
The time to start is NOW. Everyone says they’re going to wait until they have more TIME but when does that EVER happen? If you’re already doing a Beachbody workout program and sharing your success with friends and family that’s all the time it takes! Yes, recruiting new coaches and teaching them the ropes requires MORE time and effort but you can tackle that part when you’re ready. Here’s the thing, YOUR up line coach and the coaches he or she has signed up will continue to build their business whether you decide to or not. You might decide to wait a few months to focus on coaching and in that time NUMEROUS coaches can be added to your down line EVEN IF YOU DID NOT PERSONALLY SPONSOR THEM. You will start benefiting from these coaches and the work they do after YOU personally sponsor two active coaches and become Emerald. If you wait two months you’ll end up getting placed UNDER the coaches that joined before you. Would you rather help them or have them help YOU?
It will cost you more than just $14.95 month. Right now (until 12/31/10) you can sign up for free. On top of that you will need to sell or purchase roughly $50 per month worth of products to be an “active” coach. This is essential to be a part of the customer lead program. And if you plan to have coaches on your team they are going to do what you do. If you float through you business so will your coaches which will lead to you getting nowhere fast and wasting everyone’s time.
More than enough room for growth. Like I stated before there are now 40,000 Beachbody Coaches, but that’s a far cry from the 1,000,000 coaches Beachbody plans to reach.
I hope this has been a the least a little helpful in making a decision on becoming a Beachbody Coach, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
