Well, day 2 of the Insanity Max 30 challenge is here. I’m starting to feel a little better and was more prepared for today’s tabata power routine. If you’re unfamiliar with tabata, it’s a workout where we go hard for 20 seconds on and have a 10 seconds period off, over and over. I have to say this could be one of my favorites in the Insanity Max program, but I know it won’t be because its our repeat workout. We’ll be visiting this routine again in 2 days. Nonetheless I enjoyed it today.
Day 2 Tabata Power
I have done many tabata workouts before but to do one that’s strength focused is definitely new to me. Shaun T hits you from head to toe in this routine and all with no weights and extra equipment. Although I do suggest a yoga mat or Beachbody Mini Mat if you have hard floors like I do. I’m almost positive I’ll be waking up with sore legs, triceps and abs in the very least. I was able to increase my max out time compared to yesterday but remember this is an entirely different style workout. We’ll see if I do any better when we visit this workout again in 2 days. The great thing about tabata is that it’s only 20 seconds at a time so you’ll find yourself pushing harder knowing the timer is going off soon. The down side….only a 10 second break, but it seemed to be enough “most” of the time.
I’m confident that this routine can and will strengthen you even without the use of weights. That’s the only thing lacking in this program (weight training) but giving the way Shaun T has set up this workout as our strength training workout I expect to see good results. I will tell you when I woke up the next day I was sore from my legs, to my triceps, in my lats, and even my abs so be ready to MAX OUT!
My max out time for day 2 in the Tabata Power workout was 10:47. I’m still mostly following the modifier as I get back into my workouts but I try to keep my speed and intensity as high as I can until I max out. I was able to get my heart rate monitor going for this workout and was happy with my calorie burn of 432. There are quite a few moments in this workout to catch your breath so we’ll see how many calories this compares to tomorrows workout SWEAT INTERVALS. I can just tell by the name that I’m going to just love that one.
Day 2 Tabata Power Max Out Time: 10:47
Day 2 Tabata Power Calorie Burn: 432

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 1 slice of toast with strawberry preserves
