Pure Cardio Review | Insanity Workouts Review

Pure Cardio is considered by many as one of the hardest month one workouts. I can agree but at the same time I think this is the funnest workout of month one. What I really like about this workout is there are no repeat moves. You begin with your usual Insanity warmup of 10 minutes (3 sets) and followed by the stretch portion of the routine.

As we are stretching Shuan T makes a statement that I have to say worried me the first time I heard him say it. He says “…I have to be totally honest that I am really nervous about this workout…” Seriously, this is day 3, day one and two kicked my butt already and NOW your nervous, great what am I in for I say to myself. Insanity Workout Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs (Day 17 of 60)

Pure Cardio DVDMy Insanity workout tip, make sure you get plenty of sleep. My last two workouts have been really hard on me to push through. The last two nights I have not slept well on top of going to bed to late and I really feel it in my workouts. Below is a still frame pic of the end of the Pure Cardio workout. Shuan T is in the red circle. This is 15 seconds into the cool down of the workout and you can see the majority of the cast is still trying to catch their breath, most of which are still on the ground including Shaun. “This shit is bananas!”

Insanity Workout Pure Cardio (Day 13 of 60)

To quote Shaun T “This shit is bananas” and I have to agree 100%.  Today I was able to raise my heart rate and calorie burn.  I’m sure I have said this before but I’m going to say it again. Pure Cardio must be the hardest cardio workout there is, it is completly Insane. I was excited to see my calories burned were 752, especially when my highest calorie burn was 695 in this Insanity workout. Tomorrow is day 14 and it’s Fit Test time again. Hopefully I can raise some of my fit test stats, but we’ll see. On day 15 I will be posting a progress report.

Insanity Workout Pure Cardio (Day 9 of 60)

I pushed myself in today’s Insanity Workout about as hard as my body would let me. Still I had to slow down a few times as well as stop for a break. Stopping for a break doesnt bother me, most of the cast including Shaun T took them also. This Pure Cardio workout is one of the hardest workouts I’ve done, and my list includes P90X Plyometrics and P90X+ Interval X. Basically you do the usual 10 minute hard core warmup followed by a 8 minute stretch, then the Insanity begins. You go into 20 moves, at minute each, and NO BREAK! I felt good through out this one and I was able to raise my average heart rate up to 154 bpm compared to 146 my first time doing pure cardio. Even though this was my second time doing pure cardio, when Shaun says “I’m nervous about this one…” still got to me. I forgot to set my heart rate monitor so I missed the first 4 minutes of workout. However missing the first 4 minutes with the hrm I still burned 675 calories and my heart rate peaked at 176! After 9 days of Insanity I’m relly starting to feel better everyday. I noticed towards the end of this week Ithere are two workouts listed in a day…what’s that all about! Until tomorrow, take care.

Pure Cardio Stats:

Max Heart Rate – 176
Average Heart Rate –154
Calories Burned – 675

Total Insanity Calories Burned – 5464

Insanity Workout Pure Cardio (Day 5 of 60)

Whoa! Pure Cardio is just that. In this Insanity workout you will beg for a break, but guess what, there is none. You start with the usual insane warmup and stretch. Once you begin you go go go. Mind you I had to stop many time as did the Insanity crew. Even Shaun T had problems talking he was so tired. What I liked about this workout was there was no repeat exercises, each move was it’s own and last about 1 minute. I could do the full minute on most of the moves but found myself having to stop a few times 30 seconds short to get that much needed oxygen. Not knowing what to expect I paced myself today a little to much to today. The next time I see this workout will be next Tuesady and I will increase my heart rate zone. I burned just short of 700 calories in this 38 minute workout. Tomorrow I have an all day softball tournament so I may move tomorrows workout to the rest day…we’ll see.

Pure Cardio Stats:

Max Heart Rate – 171
Average Heart Rate – 146
Calories Burned – 695

Total Insanity Calories Burned – 3242
