P90X is one of the most popular home workout programs available today. And it’s been that way since it’s release back in 2004. Probably one of the most frequently asked question about P90X I get is what items are needed that don’t come with the program.
What’s needed to do the P90X workouts, that doesn’t come with the program?
P90X is one of the best-selling in home workout videos for a reason. IT WORKS!! I have lost more than 36 pounds with P90X and Shakeology and still use P90X after all these years. If you are going to do a program like this at home you’ll want to make sure you have the proper equipment readily at hand.
I will break down what you must have and what is recommended.
What You MUST Have:
1.)Pull-Up Bar or a place to do Pull-Ups
2.)A set of dumbbells or a set of resistance bands
That is it, but that is the bare minimum. Everything listed below is simply recommended but not totally necessary to complete P90X.
What Is Recomended (in addition to above items):
Now I know that’s a rather long list, but to recap you can get away with just the first two items. However if you want to maximize your overall results with P90X I do highly suggest you have at least these four items:
1.)Pull up Bar
4.)P90X Recovery Drink
You need these 4 items to get the most out of P90X. You will be doing a lot of pull ups in P90X so the pull up bar is a must (unless you have a way to do them). Each resistance workout with P90X will show the workout done with resistance bands and dumbbells, so you can use one or the other here. You can get away without the yoga mat, however on the days you do Yoga X, Stretch X and Ab ripper X there is a lot of floor work, and if you do not have a well cushioned floor you miss not having one. Now, the Recovery Drink, to me it is one of the most important supplements to take while doing P90X. It is not there to bulk you up, it is to aid in muscle fatigue and soreness. After an intense weight training workout, your muscles are depleted of glycogen. The sugar in the recovery drink is immediately absorbed into the muscles to replenish those glycogen stores which your muscles need to rebuild and repair themselves after a hard weight training workout. Now, you can substitute another shake for the P90X Recovery Drink although I don’t suggest it. If you decide to go this route you want about 4:1 ratio shake. And of course last but in no way least is Shakeology. Shakeology is like health in a bag. Use P90X for your fitness and Shakeology for fitness of your insides. My best results were when I drank Shakeology daily and I have to say this stuff is amazing. You can learn all about Shakeology right here.
