Bulk Up and Build Mass With P90X

I get a lot of questions about How To Bulk/Size Up with P90X.  I have done some research and found the excert below from a the Beachbody Fitness Advisor Steve Edwards.

I do suggest you complete P90X Classic version before you try this method.

-Excert From Fitness Advisor Steve Edwards.

The difference between what you’ll do here and what Tony says is no pacing. Do each set to failure (if you can add enough resistance), and try not to exceed 10 reps. I would suggest beginning with a weight you can only do 6 or so reps with. As soon as you hit 10 with that weight, add more. Of course, you’ll probably need to lower the resistance of the course of each workout.

Do these reps SLOW and in control. Speed is for power, but not size. Focus on perfect form and only add weight when you can do each rep with great form.

When you’re done… you’re done. You don’t need to finish an entire workout if you’re struggling. Once you lose the ability to move the weight or do the move in strict form, stop the workout.

I’m starting using X only.

Keep in mind that your caloric burn is based more on resistance than total movement. There is not nearly as much cardio and your average heart rate will be much lower than during Classic X. If you eat the same amount you may gain more mass but you’ll also gain more body fat. This might or might not be acceptable. Monitor your calories as necessary. Just make sure that you eat enough.

I will finish this with a ‘get ripped’ phase for those of you who choose to eat more in favor of mass and want to lose some body fat.

Phase 1 – 3 weeks

1 – Chest, Shoulders, Tris
2 – Cardio X
3 – Legs & Back (with no back)
4 – X Stretch, or X Plus Core
5 – Back & Bis
6 – Yoga X

Transition Week

1 – Core Syn
2 – Yoga
3 – Plyo
4 – X Stretch
5 – Core Syn
6- Yoga

What It Means To Be A Team Beachbody Coach

So what does it mean to be a Team Beachbody Coach

Who can be a Team Beachbody Coach?

Why should you become a Team Beacbody Coach?

I started my experience with Team Beachbody on October 17th 2007.  Like most I had seen the P90X infomerical and TV and I was intreagued by it.  P90X was nothing like I had seen before in any in home workout program.  So to make a long story short I ordered P90x.  When I ordered P90X I was assigned a Team Beachbody Coach.   So my understanding was that my coach was part of Team Beachbody community as a Fitness instructor or of some sort of personal trainer.  So anytime while using P90X I had any questions or needed some motivation my Coach was there to help and support me.  During this time I had ordered other great  Beachbody programs such as Ten Minute Trainer and of course the P90X Recovery drink.

WHAT I DID NOT KNOW

…is that my coach was originally a Team Beachbody customer, just like me.  He also had started with P90X, he was not a personal trainer or any of the sort.  And every time I made an order my coach made a commision on that product.  He never tried to sell me anything, Beachbody did all the news letters and ads and even customer support, but he made the commision.   So I started to ask myself, why I was’nt a coach?

To become a Team Beachbody coach there is a Start up fee of only $39.95.  Why is there a fee to become a coach?  The startup fee is for your Business Kit which includes resources and training information.  After that there is a $14.95 monthly fee (which starts after 30 days), which is for your website hosting and back office.  In the backoffice there is tons of information, videos and pdf formated product material.  Lastly you have to keep a personal volume of 50 points, which turns out to be around $50 per month.  That’s It!  I was sold…I was already spending $50+ per month on the P90X recovery Drink and other supplements. So it was a no-brainer for me.

When I became a Team Beachbody Coach, I started with no intention of even attempting to make money.  My goal as a Coach was mearly to save money on the products I was already buying and to help anybody who had questions about there products, mainly P9oX.  You see, as a Team Beachbody Coach you save 25% on every product they sell.  I am in no way a sells man so selling was not something I was wanting to do, however Beachbody makes it so easy.  I use P90X and have had great success with it.  So without even trying a was pitching their product.  I have has countless people come up to me and ask, “Have you lost weight…what are you doing?” Answer P90X! More times than not I would sell P90X to them.  Once they become a Customer of mine, EVERY time they order a Beachbody product I get a 25% commision, Beachbody takes care of the shipping, tracking, emails and customer service.  I’m there for personal support and motivation. So making money as a Team Beachbody Coach is pretty easy, and if you are like me and not really into selling products.  You can be a Coach to simply save on the products you purchase.   And even use the act of being a Team Beachbody Coach as your own Motivation to get fit and stay fit.

But what you DO as a Coach is far more rewarding, so here is all you need to be a Coach:

  • You need to “Push Play”! If you Talk the Talk, you need to Walk the Walk.
  • Become a Product of the Product
  • Your job is simply to respond to questions that your customers might have via email regarding Beachbody products, programs and provide them with support and encouragement.
  • Help your customers decide which dvd program they might want to try next or which supplement program they might want to try. You are paid commisions on any of those purchases.
  • Build, Support and encourage your own Team of Coaches
  •

With that being said, don’t let the word “Coach” scare you. As a Coach you do not have to be:

  • Personal trainer, Fitness Model, Body builder, or a professional athelete.
  • You don’t have to have completed on of our workout programs
  • All you have to
  • have is the genuine desire to better yourself, get healthy and help other do the same. THAT’S IT!!! plain and simple

Every Team Beachbody Coach has a 30 day money back gurantee, so if you decide to become a Coach and realize it’s not for you, simply return it for you money back, no questions asked.

There are 8 different ways to make money as a Coach, I have only went over one way to make money, as this post was not to tell you how to make money but to enlighten those who were unsure of what a Coach does.

    My Review
Ok so I purchased P90X back on October 2007.  I was pretty excited, I have always been atheletic and in decent shape. I am not one of those guys thats like to go to the gym and workout.  I had never even tried a workout dvd prior to P90X becasue I did not see myself staying with it or doing the same video everyday (BORING!).  The P90X commercial was WAY different. This came with 12 workouts! and Diet guide. What hooked me was the layout of the program.  You will have a week to week program to follow with specific dvd’s, which after 3 weeks you change to a much needed Recovery Week, only to start a entirely new work out phase and different workouts.  Now, the workouts are EXTREME as the title suggest. Each day you can figure about one hour plus to devote to P90X. In the classic version you will have 3 days of resistance workouts and added to thes are the ab workouts. The resistance workouts are about an hour and the ab one is 16 minutes. What I learned to do was split the resistance workout from the ab workout and do them completely seperatly. I did my workouts first thing in the morning and the ab workout later in the day. Best part of P90X is there is no thought process, just follow the layout and your GTG! It can also be taylored to any way you may want to do it.  It has 3 different versions to follow.  Classic,  Doubles and Lean.  Easy enough right.

Below I will just give a breif review of each dvd.

Chest & Back: This is push and pull to the max…you will go from push ups to pull-ups and by using different hand positions and grips to work different muscles.  This workout is really tuff, once I got finished (or so I thought) Tony says ” we are gonna do that whole thing agan”  WHAT !
Plyometrics: (Jump Training) “The Mother of All P90X Workouts! And I kid you not.  I could not even do this workout until I completed my 1st 90 days in the lean version( where Cardio X replaces Plyometrics) .  Like Tony Says” Get your little bucker my friend, cause this one works ya”  When I did start to do it I had to really pace myself slowly to keep from feeling nuasous, but after a few times I was able to Bring it!
Shoulders And Arms: Man o Man I look forward to this workout. It focuses on the “Glamour Muscles” Shoulder Biceps and Triceps.  You will be working these muscles hard on this day. You will do a set of 3 exercise in the order of Shoulder, Biceps then Triceps and then repeat those same moves. 5 Sets
Yoga X: For me I have a really hard time with Yoga, for those of you who do not think yoga will work ya, you are dead wrong.  This is one of the hardest workouts for me and you will be sweating your butt off.
Legs & Back: Time for legs, as if I havent used them all week in the other workouts, now its time to Bring it.  In the workout you will go from leg, to calve to pull-ups.  Good Luck with the wall squats.
Kenpo X: Kempo is fun fun fun. You’ll be done with this workout before ya know it.  From punching to kicking Karate style, fun packed workout right here.
X Stretch: This is mainly used on your recovery weeks but is also your 7th day workout (or you can chose to rest)
Core Synergistics: Synergistics is working mutiple muscles at the same time. This is another really tuff workout for me.  You are using your core muscles in every move from pushups to squats and lunges.
Chest Shoulders and Triceps:  Back to shoulders and triceps. I enjoy all of the non cardio days and this one is another one of my favorites, you will doing push ups in so many forms on this day while blasting those tricep muscles as well.
Back and Biceps:  Just what it says…Time to blast those biceps, move after move after move, and your break from biceps is pull ups.  By the end of this workout you will attempting 1 arm pushup and plyo push ups…Oh Ya Babay!!
Cardio X: Another fun cardio workout. This incorporates all the other cario workouts in 1. You’ll start with Yoga, then move to Kenpo, Plyo, and finish with Core.  This is the shortest P90X workout at 43 minutes, but its a huge calorie burn.
Ab Ripper X:  As Tony says “I HATE IT, BUT I LOVE IT”

Each workout has a warm-up phase and cool down phase, which are critical to your sucess…
PS Dont forget the P90X Recovery Drink.

P90X – Day 74 Legs and Back with Ab ripper X

    Day 74 of 90
Legs & Back with Ab Ripper X

Wow, day 74 and Legs and back is still a killer workout.  I was able to keep up with the gang today. Doing 25 reps of each exercise that they did.  Don’t get me wrong my legs were squimish afterwards.  I’m down to my last regular week starting Monday, I’m pumped up and ready to “Bring It”. BTW, the Recovery Drink was MONEY.

    P90X – Day 71 – Cardio X

    Day 71 of 90

So today I changed things up, usually I do Interval X on tuesday, but today I decided to go with a different cardio workout in Cardio X.   I really like cardio x, so it’s easy to go back to. Anyways I’m getting close to the end, and each day I try to push myself harder. Thank goodness for the recovery drink.

    P90X – Day 59 – Shoulder and Arms – Ab Ripper X

    Day 59 0f 90
Shoulders & Arms with Ab Ripper X

This is one of my favorite workouts, you work shoulders, biceps then triceps and repeat.  Tony even has a bonus round in this workout which I usually skip do to time.  Feels good to workout your arms hard, maybe thats what i like about this routine. Ab Ripper X is still very tough but I am able to raise my arms during the exercises for more intensity. And of course the Recovery Drink is MONEY!
