In order to set P90X2 apart and above other workout programs Beachbody went with a team of experts who were involved in the development. One of the main contributors was Dr. Marcus Elliot, who is a Harvard educated Doctor who has helped train some of the world’s most elite athletes which helped them reach their maximum potential. So let’s take a quick look into the science behind P90X2.
The P.A.P. Science Behind P90X2
One of Dr. Elliots main contributions to P90X2 was the unique training method called P.A.P. or Post Activation Potentiation. The science behind P90X2 and P.A.P. is the basic concept is that there are a certain number of muscle cells that are essentially asleep when you do a power move. So with P.A.P we do a strength move before we do a power based movement, those muscle cells are going to be activated which means more muscle cells are active and you are going to the moves with MORE POWER.
An example of P.A.P. would be something like a step up into a skater plyometric or a squat into a broad jump. P.A.P. training is so effective that it’s being used to train some of the world’s most elite athlete’s and now P90X2 brings this advanced science directly to your home. This is the first time this top end development has been made available to a lot of people.
Using P.A.P. will increase jumps, increase acceleration, shorter times out of breaks, all of these big power moves we get an improved performance!

About Marcus Elliot:
A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Marcus Elliott used his expertise in nutrition and exercise physiology to open Peak Performance Project (P3): a high-performance training center in Santa Barbara, CA that helps athletes reach their full potential while reducing the chance of injury. Marcus now works with pro athletes in sports as wide-ranging as football, cycling, baseball and volleyball to help determine the specific physiological, nutritional and biomechanical characteristics required to succeed in their given sport.
“I’ve had this interest in raising the bar in sports science since I was a kid…” – Dr. Elliott
